We had a great turnout for our 29th Annual Open House and Customer Appreciation Day on Saturday, September 17th at our Customer Service office in Weare. The event featured a cookout and plenty of entertainment. Guests enjoyed a live animal presentation from Wildlife Encounters Ecology Center, pumpkin decorating, balloon art, games, and giveaways.
As part of the day’s festivities, we presented our 19th Annual Hometown Hero Awards to a very deserving recipient – Doug Alwine of Weare. The award recognizes individuals with outstanding contributions to the community. The nominated individual may be someone who does hands-on volunteer work or serves on local councils or civic organizations.
Mr. Alwine was nominated for this award by the Weare Board of Selectmen in recognition of his dedication, hard work, and outstanding contributions to organizations such as Weare’s Historical Society, Community Emergency Response Team, School District, and Cable TV Committee. He’s called Weare his home since 2004, and service and dedication have always been a big part of Doug’s life.
“This is one of our favorite annual events because it gives us the opportunity to thank our customers in person and celebrate the communities that we serve,” explains Susan Rand King, GSC President. “The Hometown Hero Award is always a highlight of our open house, so thanks so much to the Weare Board of Selectmen for nominating Doug this year.”
