Educational Programs & Scholarships
Supporting area schools in their efforts to educate our young people has always been a priority for Granite State Communications. From offering scholarships to students within our serving area, to providing schools and libraries with free high speed Internet access through our Education Link program, supporting our communities’ youth is at the forefront of our goal to be reliable neighbors.
Scholarship Opportunities
Need Help Financing Your College Education?
Scholarship opportunities are available to students living within the Granite State Communications service area. Scholarships range from $1,000 to $5,000. To be eligible, candidates must be a customer of Granite State Communications, which serves the following towns: Chester, Dunbarton, East Deering, Hillsboro Upper Village, Sandown, Washington, Weare, and Windsor. Both high school seniors and students already attending post-secondary schooling are eligible to apply.
The scholarships valued at $1,500–$5,000 are sponsored by the Foundation for Rural Service (FRS). FRS was established in 1994 in cooperation with NTCA—The Rural Broadband Association, that seeks to sustain and enhance the quality of life throughout rural America by advancing an understanding of rural telecommunications issues. In keeping with its mission, furthering education of rural youth is one of the foundation’s primary focuses. Granite State Communications is a member of NTCA and is proud to support FRS in this worthy endeavor.
Students who apply for an FRS scholarship are automatically eligible for one of two Granite State Communications scholarships valued at $1,000 each. Applications can be downloaded from the FRS website at frs.org. If you need additional information regarding the scholarships available through FRS, please contact foundation@frs.org.
Since the program’s inception in 1994, Granite State Communications has awarded over $41,000 to New Hampshire students aspiring to further their education.
